mpp samples and middleware

It is possible to get the samples working again, but you have to inspect each one and track down what changed in the middleware header files. Then you have to update the sample to account for those changes. It would be much more convenient to get updated sample apps. So far all of the failures I have located are due to new fields being added to the headers. The sample apps don't know to initialize those fields and consequently pass garbage into the middleware libraries.
